STUDENT DESIGN AWARDS

The annual POPAI Student Design Award recognises the very best in up-and-coming P-O-P creative talent in the UK & Ireland. And it’s a great opportunity to take your first step to a career in the industry. The winner will be invited to the prestigious POPAI Awards - a champagne, black-tie dinner at a top hotel in London. It’s a great way to have your portfolio put in front of potential employers.

Rewards

The winner will pick up a cheque for £1,000 and be invited to pick up their award at the POPAI Awards 2017.

Previous award winners have gone on to work for major players in our industry, as well as some of the biggest brands on the high street. There's no doubt that it's a great addition to your CV.

The NJM Trophy is named in memory of the late Nigel Johnston-Maude, former POPAI Vice Chairman, who was deeply committed to the development of our industry.

Winning the Trophy is seen as a symbol of true creative potential and will mark you out as a star of the future.

Process

You'll be asked to submit visuals for an eye-catching display that will attract the shopper to make an impulse purchase for a product of your choice.

It must have a footprint no bigger than 1.5m x 1.5m. When uploading your images please make sure they are in a jpeg format.

You’ll also need to answer questions about the strategy and thinking behind your entry. A shortlist of entrants will be invited to the final round of judging where you'll present your design to a small panel of industry professionals at Retail Design Expo in London. The winning entry will be selected from this shortlist.

Student Design Award

2016 has been a stand out year for the POPAI Student Design Award.

The quality of the entries has been outstanding for 2016, making it a tough decision for the judges to decide on a final winner.

The Dragon's Den style panel session, which was introduced in 2015, has again expanded for 2017.  This will be held at Retail Design Expo at Olympia in May.  As well as the panel of judges, you will have the chance to pitch in front of a live audience of industry professionals.
