Irish Convenience Shopper Report by POPAI UK & Ireland

This presentation looks at Convenience store shopping in Northern and Republic of Ireland.

We conducted broad fieldwork to get a snapshot of P-O-P display and promotional mechanics used in the Irish convenience sector, carrying out store audits in a range of retailers both north and south of the border.

Our research covered a comprehensive range of external and in-store marketing display materials, including:

  • Window displays
  • Display types and their locations in-store, including digital equipment
  • The use of permanent P-O-P compared to temporary units
  • Comparison of branded and retailer units
  • Category signage

To compare and contrast the Irish market, data collected referenced a similar piece of research carried out across 11 European countries in 2017.

We also used crowd-sourcing partner app Roamler to send shoppers into stores, asking them more about their convenience shopping habits, discovering what struck a chord with them in-store and finding out about their in-store experience. The full report is exclusive to POPAI members
