polystyrene

Polystyrene is one of the most widely used plastics in P-O-P displays. It is a thermoplastic that is clear in its natural state and can be easily coloured. PS is a hard rigid material that is easily bonded to itself using Butanone (MEK). It's commonly used in injection moulding, extrusion and can also be used in sheet form for vacuum forming as other sheet fabrication methods. High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) and Acrylonitrile Butadene Strene (ABS) are both derivatives. Polystyrene is recyclable, but can take hundreds of years to break down in the natural environment.
