Irish Convenience & Shopper Report
We conducted broad fieldwork to get a snapshot of P-O-P display
and promotional mechanics used in the Irish convenience sector, carrying out
store audits in a range of retailers both north and south of the border.
Our research covered a comprehensive range of external and in-store marketing
display materials, including:
- Window displays
- Display types and their locations in-store, including digital
- The use of permanent P-O-P compared to temporary units
- Comparison of branded and retailer units
- Category signage
To compare and contrast the Irish market, data
collected referenced a similar piece of research carried out across 11 European
countries in 2017.
We also used crowd-sourcing partner app Roamler
to send shoppers into stores, asking them more about their convenience shopping
habits, discovering what struck a chord with them in-store and finding out
about their in-store experience. The full report is exclusive to POPAI members

Retail Reimagined - The Future of Shopper Marketing is human-centric
A special report presented by Robert Flavin, Director, Strategic Planning V360
- Despite unprecedented technological advancements and a changing world, shoppers basic needs remain; cost, convenience, choice and customer service.
- Expectations of their retail experience though, has utterly transformed.
- It is vital that that one thing is not forgotten in retail; shoppers, customers, consumers – are all human.
Recognising that for many involved in shopper
marketing, digital can be a challenging topic, POPAI will share insight and
experience from retailer and brand members, through case studies and research,
helping delegates navigate the minefield of understanding when and how to use
digital applications in-store.
